A popular forum for owners is pulling up the draw bridge on new members due to the weight of link spam they are attracting. Vacation Rentals Community reported in a post yesterday that enough is enough - new members must be verified before they can post to the site.
John (their top dog moderator - handsome avatar too) said in a post:
In recent months we have had an increase in the number of link spammers (mostly from people not related to the vacation rental industry). They were just registering and uploading links on their profile page to try to boost their site's search engine rankings.
Therefore, all new people that join VacationRentalsCommunity.com will now require to be approved before their account is activated (this can take up to 5 business days).
We don't blame you, John - these spammers sure are wearing. Frankly with all the money the CIA spends on night vision equipment and drones, it seems bizarre that more doors haven't been kicked in and successful prosecutions brought against these utter low lifes.
It's a bit of a shame that account activation will take up to 5 days for new owners itching to have their say, get important advice and generally join the fun. But hey, that's the price of democracy - have your say, just please wait in line.
This new fangled Interweb super-highway thingy can be pretty quick. Any chance you can speed up your end, John?
